The scholarship program was established by USAID under a previous project, the Teacher Education Project (TEP) and continued under PRP in close collaboration with the provincial/regional departments of education, universities, and elementary teacher education colleges. PRP continues to disburse 3,649 (1,695 PRP on-going and 1,954 TEP on-going) payments to ongoing scholarship recipients through the successful completion of their degrees. Scholarships under PRP have been merit-based, inclusive of women and minorities, and geographically distributed. PRP will continue to monitor recipients’ progress to ensure that as many students as possible complete their degrees and are transitioned into employment in Pakistan’s teaching workforce. All recipient data will continue to be verified, collected and entered into a secure database to effectively track scholarship disbursement, completion, and recipient status.
