Accreditation is an evaluation process that determines the quality of institutions or programs using pre-determined standards. In Pakistan, teacher education programs are accredited by NACTE which is a well-established entity, but with inadequate staff resources to do its work. It has developed 8 set standards tools for accreditation of a TTI looking at, for example, facilities, performance, discipline-specific staffing, and course content. These tools are quite technical in nature, so PRP in collaboration with NACTE will hold workshops to help TTIs prepare their accreditation application package. Under PRP, it is envisaged that 111 TTIs will get their teacher education programs accredited with the exception of TTIs in Punjab which are managed by the provincial education department, Government of Punjab. This accreditation process will provide an opportunity to the respective institutions to manage and improve the academic and physical facilities as per rankings given by the NACTE.
